Actualmente, seguimos estando obligados a facilitar valores NEDC, con independencia del procedimiento de ensayo utilizado. La comunicación adicional de los valores WLTP es potestativa hasta que sea obligatorio el uso de los valores WLTP. Por tanto, respecto de los nuevos vehículos que se homologan de conformidad con el WLTP, los valores NEDC, durante el periodo de transición, se derivarán de los valores WLTP. En la medida en que los valores NEDC se presentan en forma de rangos, no hacen referencia a un único vehículo individual, y no son parte de la oferta. Estos valores únicamente pretenden comparar diferentes tipos de vehículos. Las prestaciones accesorias y los complementos (accesorios, modelos de neumáticos, etc.) pueden modificar de forma sustancial los parámetros de un vehículo, como, por ejemplo, el peso, la resistencia de rodamiento y la aerodinámica y, junto a las condiciones meteorológicas y del tráfico, así como con la manipulación individual, puede afectar al consumo de gasolina y de electricidad, al nivel de emisiones de CO2 y a los valores de rendimiento del vehículo.
