The championship consists of three categories, based on the drivers’ pace and experience: Professional, Professional-Amateur, and Amateur. In addition, all new drivers to the Championship are automatically entered into a Young Driver Development Programme, where they compete to win up to an additional £35,000. Finally, there is a team championship where each team assigns a maximum of two drivers to score points for them throughout the season.
Points are awarded based on finishing positions across the respective classes, and over £350,000 is awarded in prize money over the course of each season.
For 2020 we will continue the reverse grid for the Pro category during Race 2 of each championship weekend.
As before, each driver’s fastest qualifying time will determine their place on the starting grid.
The finishing order of the first race will still determine the starting grid for the second race of each weekend. However, different to last year, if a driver does not finish in Race 1, thy will now start behind the last race-finisher within their category, and not at the back of the entire grid.
This new format works as follows:
Both Race 1 and Race 2 will have standing starts.
Drivers will score 1 point for setting the fastest lap in their category in each race.
Drivers that set the fastest lap time within their category during qualifying at each race weekend will be awarded two championship points.
